One of the best parts of beading for me is passing on the skills, knowledge and excitement to other people. Teaching beading workshops is a natural progression from writing tutorials and I’m very excited at the prospect of holding the first one of my own next month!
Whenever I have taught beading before it has been either to friends or as a demonstration at the craft shop where I used to work so to be able to teach from my own studio will be fantastic. Right now though it isn’t quite finished and, unless something changes, the first workshop will be held in my house instead.
I wanted to start with a nice, simple design that could be completed during the workshop rather than having to be finished off at home, and this is the design I chose:
The Pearly Queen Bracelet uses just a couple of stitches and takes me around an hour to stitch. I have made up the kits in six different colours and each one includes Swarovski Elements glass pearls, Czech superduos and Miyuki seed beads. Depending on the colour of the seed beads they each have either sterling silver or gold vermeil (sterling silver with a gold plating) findings.
Full details for the workshop can be found under the ‘Workshops’ tab at the top of the page.
I’m hoping that this will be the first of many such workshops and that the people who come will discover the same love for beading that I have. At the very least, it will be a fun afternoon, with coffee and cake, and you will have a pretty bracelet to take home too!
